# Questions by business type

### Is Tabby good for real estate agents?
Yes. Real estate agents are one of Tabby's core groups. Tabby categorizes commission deposits, brokerage splits, MLS and association dues, marketing, staging, and vehicle costs to the right Schedule C lines. HGAR members get 50% off with code HGAR50.

### How do real estate agents track commissions in Tabby?
Commission deposits from your brokerage are categorized as income. If the brokerage deducts fees before paying you, record the gross commission and the fees separately so your expenses are complete.

### Is Tabby good for contractors and home services?
Yes. Contractors use Tabby to track materials, subcontractors, tools, vehicles and job income. Mark subcontractors as 1099 vendors and track their W-9s, and on Pro or Growth use classes to see profit by job.

### Is Tabby good for consultants and coaches?
Yes. Send invoices and estimates, take card payments through Stripe, set recurring invoices for retainers, and see profit by client with the Revenue by Client report.

### Is Tabby good for restaurants and food businesses?
Yes, for bookkeeping. Daily card deposits, supplier payments and food costs flow in from your bank and get categorized. Tabby doesn't track inventory or run payroll, so use your POS and payroll provider for those.

### Is Tabby good for salons, spas and personal services?
Yes. Booth rent, product purchases, supplies and card deposits are categorized automatically, and you can track contractor payments as 1099 vendors.

### Is Tabby good for solo licensed professionals?
Yes, for business books such as income, expenses, 1099s and tax-ready reports. Tabby isn't HIPAA compliant and doesn't handle legal trust (IOLTA) accounting, so keep client files and trust accounts in your specialist software.

### Is Tabby good for freelancers and gig workers?
Yes. Tabby separates business from personal spending on a shared account, finds deductible expenses, and gives you a tax-ready report for your Schedule C. The Free plan covers you until you spend more than $15,000 a year.

### Is Tabby good for content creators?
Yes. Track sponsorship and platform income, equipment, software and travel, and send invoices to brands.

### Can I use Tabby for rental properties?
Yes. Track rent, mortgage interest, repairs, utilities and other costs. On Pro or Growth, set up a class for each property to see profit by property.

### Can I use Tabby for an e-commerce store?
Yes, for bookkeeping from your bank, Stripe and PayPal. Native Shopify and Amazon Seller connections aren't available yet, and Tabby doesn't track inventory.

### Can a nonprofit use Tabby?
It can, with limits. Tabby gives you a Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet, but it doesn't do fund accounting, restricted net assets, donor tracking or Form 990 reporting. Most nonprofits are better served by nonprofit-specific software.

### Can I use Tabby for an LLC?
Yes. Tabby works for single-member and multi-member LLCs, S corporations, C corporations and sole proprietors. Tabby keeps the books; your CPA files the return.

### Can I use Tabby if I'm a sole proprietor?
Yes. Tabby maps your expenses to Schedule C lines, which is the form sole proprietors and single-member LLCs file with their personal return.
