Connect a bank, credit card or Ramp

A live connection brings transactions in automatically. This article walks through connecting a bank or credit card through Plaid, and connecting Ramp cards.

Connect a bank or credit card

Scroll to Add a connection, or click Add connection at the top of the page. The Connect account button in Bank feeds brings you to the same place.

The three ways to add a connection.

  1. Bank or credit card, through Plaid
  2. Ramp cards
  3. Upload statements

Step 1: Find your bank

Click your bank under Popular, or type its name in Search for your bank.

Typing "no" finds Novo.

Banks you've already linked show a Connected label. Clicking one opens its settings instead of starting a new link.

If your bank doesn't come up, Tabby says so and offers a link to upload its statements instead.

A bank that isn't available through Plaid.

Step 2: Continue to Plaid

Tabby explains what's about to happen. Click Continue to Plaid.

The three steps of connecting a bank.

A secure Plaid window opens. Log in to your bank there. Access is read-only, and Tabby never sees or stores your bank login.

Connecting usually takes a few seconds.

Step 3: Choose your accounts

Plaid returns every account at that login. Tick the ones this business uses and leave personal accounts unticked.

Only the business checking account is ticked. The others can be added later.

Under Import transactions from, choose how far back to go: the start of this year, the last 90 days, or the date your books start.

If one of the accounts matches an account you've been uploading statements for, Tabby tells you and combines them, so nothing is duplicated.

Click the button at the bottom, here Sync 1 account.

Step 4: Let Tabby import

The new connection appears at the top of your list with a Connected label, and a message confirms how many accounts are importing.

Chase is connected with one account syncing. Two more accounts at the same login are available to add later.

Transactions show up in Bank feeds as they import, and Tabby categorizes them as they arrive. Anything it isn't sure about goes to Review.

Note: After a new connection, transactions can take up to 24 hours to appear.

Connect Ramp cards

Ramp has its own integration. Tabby imports your Ramp card transactions with their receipts, memos and cardholder names.

  1. Under Add a connection, click Connect Ramp.
  2. Click Continue to Ramp and sign in to approve read-only access.

Connecting Ramp.

Each Ramp card appears as its own account. For Ramp checking or treasury accounts, connect them through Plaid instead.

Common questions

How far back do transactions go?

When you connect an account you choose where the import starts: the start of this year, the last 90 days, or the date your books start. For anything older than the bank provides, upload statements.

I connected a bank but don't see transactions yet

New connections can take up to 24 hours to deliver their first transactions. If it's been longer, click Sync now on the connection, then check for a Needs attention label.
