Get bookkeeping done with the Agent tab
The Agent tab is where Tabby Talk does work for you. You pick a task or describe one, Tabby asks for anything it needs, and nothing changes in your books until you approve it.
The Agent tab

- Agent and Chats tabs.
- Search and categories. Find a ready-made task by name, or narrow the list to Invoices, Expenses, Reports, Banking or Accounting.
- Tasks. The full library, grouped by area.
- Suggestions. A handful of tasks picked for you. Some carry a Due soon label.
- The message box. Describe a task in your own words.
- Credits. How many credits your organization has left this month.
- Reminder and AI disclosure. Tabby Talk can make mistakes. The link opens the full AI disclosure.
Run a ready-made task
The Tasks panel on the left lists more than 30 tasks in five groups: Invoices & AR, Expenses & Bills, Reports & Analytics, Banking & Accounts, and Accounting.

Click a task to start it. The last three tasks you ran appear under Recent at the top of the list. Labels under a task name tell you more about it: Due soon flags something that needs attention now, and Monthly, Quarterly or Annual show how often the task usually comes up.
To find a task quickly, type in Search tasks.

Press Enter to run the first result. If nothing matches, click Ask Tabby to send what you typed as a request instead.
Describe a task in your own words
Type what you need in the message box and press Enter. Use Shift + Enter for a new line.
The more specific you are, the less Tabby has to ask. "Invoice Acme for 10 hours of consulting" gives it a customer, a quantity and a service. "Send an invoice" works too, but Tabby will ask for the rest.
The row of chips above the message box holds common follow-ups, such as Categorize transactions, Upcoming bills and P&L report. Click one to run it.
Fill in a quick form
Some tasks need only a few details. Tabby shows a short form right in the conversation.

Fill it in and click the main button, here Create invoice. If you need more than the short form offers, such as several line items, tax or notes, click Open full form.
Start over
Click New thread at the top right to clear the Agent conversation and start fresh.
When Tabby needs something from you
Tabby Talk stops and asks instead of guessing. You'll see three kinds of cards. Each one stays in the conversation afterwards as a record of what you decided.
Card | Label | What you do |
|---|---|---|
A question | Needs your input | Pick one of the numbered choices, or type a different answer. |
A short form | A few details needed | Check the details Tabby filled in and complete the rest. |
An approval | Approval needed | Read exactly what will change, then approve, adjust or cancel. |
Example: categorize uncategorized transactions
Type "Categorize my uncategorized transactions", or pick Bulk categorize transactions from the task list.
1. Tabby does the groundwork and asks how to proceed. It finds your uncategorized transactions, groups them by vendor and matches each group to a category from your past choices. Click the "Worked through 3 steps" line to see what it did.

You can press 1 to 5 on your keyboard to pick a choice. To answer in your own words, type in Type a different answer. Skip this question moves on without answering.
In this example the first choice, Apply to similar and future transactions, also creates a rule so new transactions from the same vendor are categorized automatically.
2. Ask to see the transactions first, if you like. Tabby lists them in a table and asks again.

3. Approve the change. Before anything is saved, Tabby shows exactly what will change: each transaction, with its category before and after.

- Approve and apply makes the change.
- Change category lets you pick a different category first.
- Cancel stops. Nothing is changed.
4. See the result. Tabby confirms what it did. The approval card stays above it, marked "Approved by you".

The buttons under the result are shortcuts. Undo reverses the change. Next group carries on with the next set of transactions. Open Bank feeds takes you to the transactions.
Example: send an invoice
Type "Invoice Acme for 10 hours of consulting".
1. Check the details. Tabby looks up the customer and your rate for the service, then shows a form with what it found.

Fields with a star are required. Click Draft invoice when the details are right.
2. Approve and send. Tabby shows the finished invoice and asks before sending it.

- Create and send creates the invoice and emails it to the customer.
- Save as draft creates it without sending.
- Cancel stops. Nothing is created.
3. Done. Tabby confirms the invoice number, the amount and the due date. Click Open invoice to see it.

Attach a receipt or document
Tabby Talk can read a receipt and turn it into an expense.

- Click the paperclip and choose a photo or PDF.
- The file appears above the message box. Click the x to remove it.
- Add a note if you want to, then send.
Tabby reads the vendor, date, category and total and shows them on a card.

Click Review & log expense to open the expense form with those details filled in, so you can check them before saving. Enter manually starts the Log an expense task, where you type the details yourself.
In the Agent tab you can attach images and PDFs. In Chats you can also attach CSV and Excel files and ask questions about them.
Find a record
Ask for something by name and Tabby lists what it finds, for example "search for TechCorp".

Copy, retry and rate an answer
Four small buttons sit under every answer.

- Copy puts the answer on your clipboard.
- Regenerate sends your request again for a fresh answer.
- Helpful and Not helpful tell us how Tabby did. Use them, because this feedback is how Tabby Talk improves.
Common questions
I typed something in Agent and ended up in Chats. Why?
The Agent tab is for tasks. When your message is a question and not a task, Tabby opens it as a chat so the answer is saved in your chat history.
How do I undo something Tabby Talk did?
Click Undo under the result. If you've moved on, change the record where it lives. A category can be changed in Bank feeds, for example, and every change is listed in the transaction's Activity tab.
An answer looks wrong. What should I do?
Click Not helpful so we know, then try Regenerate or rephrase with more detail. For anything that affects your taxes or a loan application, confirm the figure in the report itself or with your accountant.
